Natural Health Center opened our doors in Anchorage in 1998, realizing the vision of our founders, Dr. Hope Wing and Dr. Rick Abbott, to provide an integrative medicine clinic where patients could easily access holistic, alternative healthcare. Since then, we have cared for generations of Alaskans, while continually evolving to meet the needs of our patients.
Following the model of providing all-under-one-roof integrative healthcare, our services have grown from chiropractic and naturopathic care to include massage therapy, acupuncture, family medicine, functional medicine, Rolfing® and trigger point therapy. We also offer our patients the convenience of an in-clinic apothecary, stocked with a wide array of the highest-quality herbal and nutritional supplements, homeopathic remedies, Chinese medicinal formulas, herbal teas and tinctures.

Our Past, Present and Future
In 1998, Dr. Wing and Dr. Abbott founded Natural Health Center in midtown Anchorage as a beautiful, purpose-built, permanent home for naturopathic and chiropractic health care.
Driven by our desire to offer broader services to our patients and develop deeper collaborations with providers of other disciplines, we added acupuncture to our menu of services in the mid-2000s and we hired our first family nurse practitioner in 2014. During this time, we also expanded our medical massage therapy team, and began to offer Rolfing® and trigger point therapy.
Dr. Birgit Lenger, naturopathic doctor, and Sy Cloud, LAc, acupuncturist, assumed ownership of Natural Health Center in January 2019.
Dr. Lenger began her practice at Natural Health Center in January 2002 and has been happily thriving for 20 years here. As a naturopathic physician in family practice, Dr. Lenger enjoys caring for people in all stages of life, from infancy and adolescence through advanced age. She helps patients and their families overcome health obstacles and achieve lasting wellness.
Sy became part of the Natural Health Center family in October 2012. Sy treats young children to people of advanced age, helping his patients using Five Element acupuncture, dietary recommendations and herbal medicine. Sy has been gaining a lot of experience helping patients recover from COVID-19 and long-COVID. He has been nominated for ADN’s Best of Alaska Acupuncturist for 2022.
As we look to the future of the Natural Health Center, our goals include offering more support to under-served populations, expanding our group of functional medicine practitioners, and deepening community connections through event sponsorship, local talks, and other offerings.
