Natural Health Center Founders

Dr. Hope Wing and Dr. Rick Abbott

In December 1984, fresh from gradation, Dr. Hope Wing and Dr. Rick Abbott drove up the Al-Can to establish their practices in Anchorage.

Dr. Wing was the first female naturopathic doctor in Alaska to bring a holistic women’s health practice to the state based upon the principles of treating the whole person. A groundbreaking medical professional, Dr. Wing was instrumental in obtaining Alaska state licensure for naturopaths in 1986 and was a co-founder of the Alaska Naturopathic Physicians Association.

In 1998, Dr. Wing and Dr. Abbott founded Natural Health Center, realizing their shared dream of opening a beautiful, purpose-built, permanent home for naturopathic and chiropractic health care.

They cared for patients together until Dr. Wing retired from clinical practice in 2011 and Dr. Abbott retired in 2019.

The Natural Health Center team continues to carry on the vision they began, expanding and evolving to provide the best possible care to our Alaska communities.
