Alex Dreyer, ND, LAc

Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist in Anchorage

Dr. Alex Dreyer is a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist at Natural Health Center in Anchorage. She has advanced training and clinical interests in cardiovascular disease, gastroenterology, endocrinology and diabetes.

Dr. Dreyer considers herself a primary care doctor and enjoys working with all ages and a wide variety of health conditions.

Dr. Dreyer’s road toward naturopathic medicine started when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 8 years old. After being told by various doctors throughout her childhood that there wasn’t anything she could do besides avoid sugar, take more insulin, and avoid anything too strenuous, she felt like her health was out of her hands. It was in this moment of feeling disempowered when she vowed that there had to be another way that involved her being proactive about her health versus reactive to whatever symptoms her body was exhibiting.

This desire for knowledge about how the human body works and how we can work with our body toward healing, instead of fighting against it, led Dr. Dreyer to naturopathic medicine.

Multi-layered approach to wellness
Dr. Dreyer’s mission is to be a source of guidance, encouragement, information and education for her patients on their journey toward regaining their power over their health.

This road may be long and arduous, and will not be found in a pill or “quick-fix,” but Dr. Dreyer promises to work as a detective and ally alongside each patient to discover how they can restore their vitality and live the healthy life they desire.

Dr. Dreyer wants more than to help her patients feel “not sick.” Instead, she wants to help her patients reach a state of true, vibrant health. To achieve this, she utilizes:

  • Both Western and Chinese herbal medicine

  • Acupuncture

  • Nutrition

  • Supplements

  • Mind-body medicine

  • Craniosacral therapy

  • Hydrotherapy

  • Routine laboratory testing

  • Specialized testing to examine things like gut health, neurotransmitters, nutritional status, hormone health, environmental and/or food allergies/sensitivities, etc.

  • Imaging

  • Annual exams, women’s health exams

  • While Dr. Dreyer cannot write prescriptions in the state of Alaska, she is knowledgeable about medications and knows when to utilize these, when necessary.
